Noodles with a sour cream sauce, salty bacon and the surprise of the bunch – cabbage! They come together in no time at all to make a comforting and hearty side dish that can fill in as a main.
Michael Symon made this in 5 minutes on his new show, The Chew. Have you seen it? I’m just a wee bit addicted to it, mostly because I like hearing Symon giggle and I like his style of cooking. It brings me joy. Not to mention Carla from Top Chef is a part of it too. Love her. Hootie-hoo.
This is my entry for Side Dish Saturdays, a weekly event I started to bring more attention to side dishes and give them the respect and love they deserve.
I would love it if you linked up your side dishes! I only have two guidelines for linking to the event.
Your link must be a side dish; no soups or recipes with meat/poultry. Old posts are ok but. . .
The post must have a link back to my site. All other links will be deleted; every link will be checked.
The linky will be open until Monday at midnight eastern time. If you get here late – no worries – just link up next week.

Perfect side dish if I’ve ever seen one!
Hey Reeni, read this recipe to the hubby… Mmmmm make it Kath! Sounded kinda like Homer Simpson. Thanks for the wonderful side :-)
Looks yummy! I love your recipes and writing style too. I’m also addicted to The Chew – they make you feel like you’re hanging out with them.
Thanks Joanie! Hope you won’t be a stranger!
Cabbage certainly was a surprise! Last week I was just talking to my stepmom about her love of cabbage so it’s funny you have this side dish today! I will have to send it to her!
Purrs and scritches to Moon!
I love that there’s cabbage in this! I seem to run out of ideas for using all the cabbage I get from my CSA in the winter, and next time I’ll remember this.
