Chocolate, peanut butter and banana love each other. If that isn’t sin then I don’t know what is.

Every out-of-this-world-delicious bite makes you wish for another until you find yourself with the very last piece. At which point, complete and utter sadness overcomes every fiber of your being.

The only thing to do is bake more, under the guise of sharing your delectable discovery with every, single friend you have. Because it’s just that good.

And you’re that friend.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Banana Bread

Honest and truly if ever a banana bread were to be sinful than this is the one!

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup salted butter, room temperature
½ cup sugar
¼ cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup ripe banana, mashed
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1 cup chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour a standard loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. In a separate large mixing bowl beat butter and sugars until combined. Mix in peanut butter and banana. Mix in egg and vanilla, scraping down sides of bowl. Add flour mixture and beat on low until combined. Pour in milk and beat on low until batter is smooth. Mix in chocolate chips.
  4. Add batter to loaf pan and evenly spread out. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until the center springs back when pressed with a fingertip. Cool in pan on wire rack 15 minutes, remove from pan and cool completely.

    I made this today and it was delicious. However, the middle was a big gooey mess. Based on the top and poking it, it appeared to be done. Not sure how to correct this problem. I didn’t want to burn the top and outer edges. Any suggestions?

      Hi Wendy! I’m sorry that happened! It definitely wasn’t cooked enough! For next time you can either cover the top with aluminum foil once it gets as brown as you like or you can just leave out a little of the batter – discard it or make muffins out of it.     This is great! Thanks for the recipe! I used a technique I learned from “The Joy of Cooking” for their banana bread that simplified it a little. Mix the dry ingredients, and set aside. After mixing the butter and sugars thoroughly, add the dry ingredients in and mix till sandy. In another bowl, mix all remaining wet ingredients (no chips yet!), then fold them in to the sandy mix. Finally, gently mix in chips, bake as you directed. I used all your ingredients and measurements. Thanks!!

    I used this recipe for a work do and it went down very well. Some suggestions for variation would be to
    a) use chocolate buttons (gives a bigger piece of chocolate)
    b) I couldn’t really taste the peanut butter so next time I’m going to try swirling it the into the batter just before cooking, rather than mixing it in fully.
