A chocolate lover’s dream come true with layers upon layers of bittersweet chocolate baked into a pie.
This is one of the easiest pies to make! It begins with blind baking a chocolate cookie crumb crust then filling it with chocolate ganache and giving it another turn in the oven.
The chocolate ganache is enriched with a pat of butter, an egg and a little milk. I also add extra cocoa powder to both the filling and the crust to bring out the bittersweet flavor further.
The filling is like the center of a dark chocolate truffle. Soft, dense and silky smooth.
To finish it off there’s a layer of chocolate whipped cream sprinkled with pieces of dark chocolate candy bar.
You can serve this heaven-sent pie at room temperature or chilled. I like it tons better chilled. The cold intensifies the chocolate flavor making it more pronounced and more delicious.
