These cereal bars transform boring puffed wheat cereal into something deliciously snackable. Aside from toasting the cereal for a quick five minutes they require no baking. Peanut butter, jelly and honey are combined and melted to form the ‘glue’ that holds them together.
They are bursting with chewy crunchiness and the flavors of peanut butter and grape jam in every bite. I love them most of all because I can pronounce everything in them, unlike the pre-packaged cereal bars that line the store shelves today.
I used all natural peanut butter and homemade grape jam. That makes me feel even better about eating them. Use whatever types you have on hand. There is also the option of adding marshmallows into the mix if you’re looking for something more dessert-like. In that case omit the honey.

Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spread puffed cereal out on a large sheet pan. Bake for 5 minutes.
- Line an 8×8 inch deep-sided baking or casserole dish with parchment or aluminum foil. Grease lightly. Add the cereal to an extra large mixing bowl.
- In a small saucepan over very low heat melt peanut butter, jam and honey (or marshmallows) together, stir well, remove from heat, pour over cereal, mix well until cereal is evenly coated. Pour immediately into casserole dish, smooth out and lightly press the cereal down.
- Refrigerate for two hours. Remove bars from pan with parchment to a cutting board. Slice into bars with a super sharp knife. Store tightly covered in refrigerator, if using marshmallows store at room temperature.

What an excellent creation. It is a treat for someone like me who loves peanut butter and jelly. I think it is a breakfast as well as dessert (at least for me) :)
I would absolutely LOVE these! Unfortunately my boyfriend is allergic to peanuts… do you think almond butter would work?
