I don’t look at those languishing boxes and bags of pretzels, crackers and tortilla chips the same way I used to: as half-eaten, forgotten and destined for the trash. I see them for their possibilities. They can be turned into all sorts of sweet and savory pie crusts or used in crumbles to replace flour. Or sprinkled over the tops of casseroles like mac and cheese. Crushed up fine they can replace bread crumbs in just about any recipe. Or used as a coating for chicken, shrimp and even vegetables like fries to make them extra crispy.
And so when I spied a bag of pretzels that needed to be used up I immediately thought of chicken. And peanut butter. Because pretzels and peanut butter love each other. Like Winnie the Pooh and honey.
The crushed pretzels make a delicious, extra crispy crust that can be used on bone-in chicken or boneless breasts. The peanut sauce is made with garlic, soy sauce and ginger. It’s a little zingy and a lot addicting. It’s one of my favorite things in the whole world. I could drink it. With a straw. It’s that good.

This recipe sounds interesting AND delicious!
Pretzels and peanut butter are definitely a winning combo… Duane Reade sells peanut butter filled pretzels, and I can't be around them without finishing the whole container! I will definitely try this out!
What a great way to pair pretzels with peanut butter! I love a peanut dipping sauce for chicken too.
You keep posting the most amazing chicken dishes! I want to try them all! In fact, I am going to make the Lemon Milanese Chicken recipe of yours tonight! I can't wait to make it and post it! =)
yes! something to do with the pretzel dregs! my fiance saves bags with chip and pretzel crumbs because he says he'll put them on soup and stuff. then he forgets. this sounds like a fantastic recipe I could totally adapt for tofu (or make it just for him with chicken!)
