Three Dove® Promises® Dessert Recipes

As part of the Dove® Chocolate Tastemaker program I was asked to create three original recipes using the Dove® Promises® Silky Smooth Chocolate Collection that includes Dark Chocolate Mint Swirl, Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate.

I loved working with these particular chocolates! Smooth and creamy is my favorite type of chocolate to eat and bake with. These are easy to work with, have great flavor and melt like a dream.

They live up to their silky smooth name.

Dove Dark Chocolate Mint Swirl Promises

The “promise” part of the equation comes from the wrapper. Inside each one is a written ‘promise’. During my recipe development I opened and read hundreds of them. It was half the fun. I take that back. It was a quarter of the fun. Baking with them was another quarter and the remaining half goes to all the delectable desserts I ate! All for the sake of taste testing, of course. My family thanks you. I thank-you.

First up, Dark Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies that you can also make into cookie cups with a Dove® Promise® pressed into the top. The cookies are bursting with Dove Promises Dark Chocolate Mint Swirl in every bite.

They’re crisp and chewy around the edges with super soft, melt-in-your-mouth centers and a sweet mint flavor that is hard to forget.

Dark Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies

Next is a no-churn Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream. The easiest ice cream you will ever make – no ice cream maker needed! The base is made of whipped heavy cream folded into sweetened condensed milk packed with chopped Dove® Promises® Dark Chocolate Mint Swirl and bite-size pieces of chocolate graham cracker crust.

Sweet and creamy, every bite is packed with the refreshing flavor of mint with dark chocolate and soft bites of graham cracker crust.

No Churn Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream

Last but not least are these Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Bars. Chopped Dove® Promises® Dark Chocolates are folded into a dark chocolate brownie layer then topped with a layer of peanut butter cream cheese followed by a dark chocolate ganache sprinkled with even more chopped chocolate.

Completely dreamy, rich and extra chocolaty, a small square will go far in satisfying anyone’s sweet tooth.

Dove Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Bars

Dark Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Yield: about 4 dozen

Dark Chocolate Chip Mint Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 + 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 + 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups chopped DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl (plus more for sprinkling on top, optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter and sugars on medium speed 2 minutes. Add the eggs, vanilla and peppermint, beat on low until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, salt and baking soda. Add half to the mixer bowl and beat on low until incorporated. Scrape down sides of the bowl. Add the remaining half and beat on low speed until incorporated.
  3. Mix in the chopped chocolates by hand.
  4. Refrigerate dough 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  6. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment or silicone liners. Scoop up rounded tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake 12 minutes. After removing from oven sprinkle the tops with more chopped chocolate and allow to cool on pan 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Store tightly covered in a cool, dry place up to 1 week.
  8. Cookie Cup Variation:
  9. *You will need an extra bag of Dove Chocolates unwrapped - you can use the Dark Chocolate Mint Swirl, Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate Silky Smooth flavor.
  10. Line a mini muffin tin with paper liners. Scoop up heaping teaspoons of dough and roll into balls. Place in liners and bake 12 minutes. Remove from oven and press unwrapped Dove chocolates gently into the top of each one. Cool in pan 10 minutes then remove to wire racks and cool completely.

No Churn Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream

No Churn Grasshopper Pie Ice Cream

Ingredients:

Crust:
1 + 1/2 cups finely ground chocolate graham crackers (12 crackers)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons butter, melted
Ice Cream:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 - 4 drops green food coloring, optional
2 cups heavy cream
1 heaping cup chopped DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Mint & Dark Chocolate Swirl

Instructions:

    Make the crust:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium bowl mix the graham cracker crumbs and sugar together. Pour in the butter and use a fork to work the butter into the crumbs. Line a baking sheet with parchment and press the crumbs into a 10-inch circle (it doesn't have to be perfect). Bake 10 minutes. Cool to luke warm then place in the freezer 1 hour.
  2. Break the frozen crust up into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Make the ice cream:
  4. Add the milk to a large mixing bowl and stir in the extracts and food coloring, if using. Beat the whip cream into stiff peaks and fold into the condensed milk.
  5. Stir in the pieces of crust and the chopped chocolate. Pour into a loaf pan, cover tightly and freeze 6 hours or overnight.

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Bars

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Bars

Ingredients:

Brownie layer:
2/3 cup butter
5 ounces DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate
1 + 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup chopped DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate
Cheesecake layer:
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ganache:
6 ounces chopped DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup chopped mixed DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate, for sprinkling over top

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment or grease well with butter.
  2. Make the brownie layer:
  3. In a small saucepan melt butter and chocolate over low heat stirring constantly until chocolate is completely melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool to warm.
  4. Meanwhile in a large bowl or stand mixer beat sugar, vanilla and eggs together on medium speed 6 minutes.
  5. Add the chocolate mixture and beat on low speed 2 minutes. Scrape down sides of the bowl.
  6. Add flour and beat on low speed, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Stir in the chopped chocolate.
  7. Pour into pan and spread out evenly.
  8. Make the cheesecake layer:
  9. Beat the cream cheese and peanut butter together on medium speed 2 minutes. Beat in sugar on medium speed 2 more minutes.
  10. Add vanilla and egg, beat on low until well combined.
  11. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture over the brownie layer. Use a butter knife to swirl it into the brownie.
  12. Bake 40 - 45 minutes until brownies start to pull away from the sides of the pan and the center is set. Cool on wire rack 2 - 3 hours.
  13. Make the ganache:
  14. Add the chocolate to a small, heat-proof bowl. Heat the heavy cream and butter together until butter is melted and cream just starts to boil.
  15. Pour over the chocolate and cover the bowl with a small dish or lid. Let sit 5 minutes.
  16. After 5 minutes whisk the mixture until it comes together and is smooth and creamy. Allow to cool to lukewarm.
  17. Pour over top of the bars and spread out gently in an even layer. Sprinkle the chopped chocolate over top.
  18. Refrigerate 4 hours or over night. Lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment to a cutting board and slice into squares with a large chef's knife dipped in hot water. Wipe clean after each cut.
  19. Refrigerate leftovers up to 5 days.
