Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your Go Fund Me donations, prayers, well wishes, shares, messages and cards! They are making this experience so much easier for me. I have uterine cancer that has spread to my lungs and lymph nodes. (If you missed my first Cancer post click here to read.) (And here’s Cancer Update #2.)
So. . .
I had my first chemo treatment. My Dr. had a change of heart and allowed me to have it in his office. I worked out a payment plan. As long as I keep up on my payments I can keep getting my treatments.
That’s why your donations are so important – they helped so much – I can’t say thank you enough. Please keep sharing my Go Fund Me page – every bit helps no matter how big or small.
So I felt fine during the actual treatment which was on a Friday and lasted over 8 hours. My nurse was a dream who made the experience go smoothly.
I was also given steroids to help the chemo work better and for energy the next day so the medicine would work it’s way through my system.
Saturday I was bursting with energy and my appetite was BIG. Sunday morning it all went downhill. . .
I woke up with cramps in my legs that turned into full blown pain from the tops of my feet to my hips and lower abdomen. I could feel it deep into my ankle bones and up my shin bones to my knees and thighs and hips. A non-stop steady pain with shooting pains that made my knees buckle.
My ankles felt like they were broken and my shins like a sledgehammer was hitting them over and over. I could barely walk. No sleep on Sunday night.
It lasted hard until Monday night when it started tapering off a little. My best friend did Reiki on me Monday night and it really helped a ton. I was able to finally sleep.
The Dr. gave me pain pills but they made me violently ill and when I did take them barely touched the pain.
I had absolutely no appetite at all and could only force tiny baby bites, a few at a time. My stomach hurt so bad from hunger but I still couldn’t get the food down.
Anywho, Wednesday I woke up so weak I couldn’t speak. I was in hell and it lasted until Friday when I woke up with a craving for Gatorade. Within a half hour of drinking it I was eating a piece of pizza like a starving wolf. It helped my electrolytes and I think the sugar stimulated my appetite.
Guess what I’m stocked up on? Orange flavor is the best – I don’t drink it full strength but water it down – the flavor is so strong.
I lost 14 pounds in 5 days! Best. Diet. Ever. But I don’t recommend it one bit. My strength is coming back and I’m feeling better. . .Until tomorrow when I have my next chemo treatment and start the cycle all over again.
All the pain was worth it because the lumps in my neck are almost completely gone!! By the Sunday after treatment I could feel that they were smaller. Every day they shrink more and more.
The relentless steady pains in my side and lower abdomen have gotten so much better – I am still having occasional pains but nothing like before. My shortness of breath is improved too.
My Dr. and his nurses are amazed that I’m responding so quickly – I had no idea things would work this fast. What????
Miracles happen. Yes, I know, strong medicine helps too.
Every single day I thank God, the universe, and every single one of you for all the prayers, well wishes and donations. Please keep them coming! Whatever you’re doing. . . IT’S WORKING!!!!!!!!!!
Please share on Facebook and tweet if you can – I’m so far off from my goal and the bills are piling up! Need all the help I can get.
Meanwhile, I’m so grateful for what I’ve already been given.
Chemo #2 here I come. . .
Thanks bunches! Love Ya, xoxo
P.S. I’m mostly bed bound. Any recommendations for movies or tv shows? I have Netfix, HBO and Amazon Prime.
